SHAREing & CAREing’s Be a Friend to Your Mother high school outreach program is a unique approach to communicating with young people that is sensitive to their needs while effectively teaching the importance of being proactive in their health. It is SHAREing & CAREing’s position that our youth, especially beginning around high school age, will be the determining factor in decreasing the instances of preventable life-threatening diseases in the future.
We provide education around early detection, self exams, and overall prevention with the actionable takeaway of having them share this vital information with their family members – especially their mothers, aunts, and grandmothers.
- From 2009-2017, SHAREing & CAREing has provided educational outreach to over 20,000 individuals, including over 14,000 high school students.
- While detection is not the primary goal of the program, SHAREing & CAREing has helped save the lives of 8 high school girls since the program’s inception.
