The population of half of the world lacks access to essential healthcare, with the most fatal consequences for middle- and low-income countries. In high-income countries like the U.S., healthcare disparities are stark, caused by language barriers, lack of insurance or understanding of insurance options, under-insurance, immigration status, transportation barriers, and lack of awareness, among many key factors. In Queens as in the rest of the country, healthcare equity disproportionally affects our immigrant and minority neighbors. Our mission at Beads of Hope Inc is to close these gaps in cancer care.
